▪ DRUMS
1) Plain drum
Because plain drum without groove is consisted of a plain at the surface of drum, abrasion is on speed
due to high rolling pressure on contact part with rope at the first layer.Besides when drums are used
at the first layer, Winding and cutting arrangement is apt to deform. Thereby in the case of use at the
first layer, it is proper to use drums multilayeredly. By acting as th plat of the rope of first layer, drums
should act as a guide for more than two layers' Winding and cutting.
2) Groove drum
Owing to a wide contact part with rope, groove drum reduces pressure on contact part and decrease abrasion of rope and drum. Esepcially, the effect of rope damage is very few in a single-layer groove drum. Thereby, by being manufactured by a proper size, groove drum can protect the damage caused by of rope and interference among ropes, and make life of equipment itself lengthened.

2) Sheave hardness
Sheave has a considerable effect on life of rope as it is very closely used, with contacted with rope.
Because this makes an influence on sheave's quality, hardness, groove size and diameter, shape of groove, all ropes, etc as well as sheave' life according to complicated factors, setting up a proper size is the important factor at the time of a design. Thereby, because high and low hardness of sheave compared with rope's paly a role for increasing the possibility of abrasion of rope, setting up the hardness of sheave is the important factor.
